Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand
Words by Henry Alford, D.D. Music by Ira D. Sankey
"Ten thousand times ten thousand, in sparkling raiment bright,
The armies of the ransomed saints, throng up the steeps of light."
This is considered the best of Dean Al ford's hymns. It was written in 1866 and published in the ”Year of Praise” in 1867. Beside the open grave of the author, January 17, 1871, the hymn was sung with intense emotion by his sorrowing friends.
